Our final Greek Game. The spartans have begun a conquest of blood, conquering and destroying. Kyros calls in all the blood debts owed to him to meet the Spartan Fleet. King Danalaus gives an ultimatum to the Spartans. With our fleet of 50 vs. their 100, we prepare to destroy them. Each character faces a choice given to them by the opposing gods, and choose they do.

The plan was to lure them onto the Island via the Harbor and then trap their fleet in the harbor setting them on fire. Using simplified combat rules, we take out dozens of their ships. We sink the Flagship. The tide of battle is in our favor. The Gods interfere as they normally do – Morpheus (The dreamer) makes our crews insane – Katelina pleas with her Father to step out of the conflict. And he does so, releasing his insane hold on the crews. Zeus drops lightning and then enters the fray. Uranus, Athena and Artemis confront Hades, Ares and Zeus. Eventually, our side wins as Zeus is cut in half by the Flint Scythe.

Meal: Home-Made Nachos and Cookies

We began with a quick recap of the fall of Delphi, the destruction of Apollo by Uranus and the removal of the Minotaur Curse on Danalaus. Danalaus was crowned King of Crede, set the government back in order, as the new order religion of the Triune (Uranus, Athena and Artemis) were spread by Kyros and his stalwart crew.

The GM made mention of how men were trying to sign aboard the ship of Kyros.

The Adventure Begins…

Our adventure resumed with us preparing to descend into the dungeon where Danalaus’s father had disappeared (Reference Materials perused). After much research, the group made their way to the Iron Door. Kyros set a spell upon each of the group that would leave a trail and allow only them to follow. Filia grabbed an item of the previous king and cast a spell of tracking to allow her to track the elusive prey.

Entering in this is what they discovered…

Room 1 Corridor T Intersection (Form 42)
Room 2 Cupid’s Eatery/Frat House (Disable Spring)
Room 3 Gaia’s Gift Room
Room 4 Ocean / Shark Gate
Room 5 Corridor T Intersection (Form 44)
Room 6 Room – Statue Temple Room (Apollo Statue Destroyed)
Room 7 Amphitheater – Platinum Throne on Stage; Seating has various thrones
Room 8 Teleported to –  Metal Room – Bronze Metal BULL
Room 9 Happening Bar Scene – Found Hercules – Door in Barrel
Room 10 Cerebus in large room with Well

ROOM 1 – A Corridor, T Intersection, Strange writings on the wall. A fine hair of white noticed to the LEFT. A spring mechanism in the door. We disabled and bypassed the poison residue upon the door handle. Entering therein we discovered…

ROOM 2 – A Tea Room fit for the Goddess of Love. A cupid awaiting to seat us at a booth. Food, Drink and Sexual Intimacy taking place with no concern for those who might be looking on. Filia spots the crown of a king by the back door. The only mortal, Danalaus, Cupid fires an arrow at him… and misses. We open the door with haste (and grab the crown on the way by) and enter the door and discovered…

ROOM 3 – A Long Hall, 60 ft across and going for as far as the eye can see. Stockings hung upon a mantle that likewise spans the distance, each with a name. An elderly woman sits upon a chair, knitting and darning wool. Ignoring us until we speak. Clues lead us to believe this is Gaia, Mother of All. She gives Filia a knitted cap. Kyros inquires if she knows of how to leave. She asks if he wants to leave now, he says no, not until we’ve found the one we search for. She gives him a gift of a Cherry, telling him to eat and think of where he wishes to be, and all who are touching will travel with him to that destination… BUT DON’T EAT THE SEED! Thanking her, he asks if his mother is doing well. She says yes, and thinks upon it. Filia asks if she nows how to get around the maze. Gaia responds that there are 50 forms of the labrynth, we entered at 42, and if you seek to leave by the entry, you need to leave by 42, she also says Danalaus’s Father came in on Form 17. Taking our leave we exit back through the door we came in from and discovered…

ROOM 4 – We fall 10 feet into a well place boat. Filia spies a cloth of a robe in a Large Mechanical Shark. We spy an isle in the distance. We make for the shark and find a door inside his gullet. Entering the door we discover…

ROOM 5 – An identical T Section Corridor, though this one is lacking the marking upon the wall that Kyros left. Espying a piece of leather by another door we enter and discover…

ROOM 6 – A Temple dedicated to Apollo, his Statue lay in Ruin. Upon a Small Alter Platter are strange items representing his Domains. Danalaus grabs the bow and arrow – gaining dominion over LUCK, and consequently gaining a single Point of GODFIRE. Indicating the rest should take an item, Kyros Grabs for some scrolls – Gaining domain of KNOWLEDGE; Cleatus grabs the bandages and Gains the domain of HEALING; Filia grabs a candle and gains the domain of FIRE. All are likewise bestowed with a single point of GODFIRE.*1 The Temple shakes and begins to collapse. Kyros is struck by debris for 12 points of damage, while the rest stumble to the doorway. Leaving with haste we discover…

ROOM 7 – An Amphitheater with thrones of shapes and sizes. We deduce it’s representative of all the major powers – Gods and Demigods of Note. Each present has a throne, and if they sit upon it they have a connection to those who pray or are doing the related portfolio of the character (Healing Arts for Cleatus, Learning and Knowledge for Kyros, Calling upon Luck by Danalaus, etc). Resting for a bit, Kyros heals his injuries and presses onward. They go back through the door and discover…

ROOM 8 – They are teleported to a Metal Room with a Bronze Metal Bull. It challenges us to a RIDDLE –

I have a head and a body but I am not alive

I’m a prized item but am useless by myself

Its your strength which determines how far I can go

You can hold me in your hand but I am never thrown

Kyros ponders the question and then offers up the answer*2. The metal bull melts and we see the clue is the door from which we just entered. We go back through that door and discover…

ROOM 9 – A Bar Scene – Satyrs aplenty. Drinking and no other men, well, except for Hercules sitting and drinking at the bar. Hercules is trying to finish his last Trial of the TWELVE he was given by Zeus. Recover the Flint Scythe. We offered a way out if he wished to accompany us. He agreed. Cleatus had to be persuaded to leave by the barrel door where the previous king had left his signature “Danalaus IV was in the house”. We entered the door and discovered…

ROOM 10 – A room with a well, and besides it was Cerebus. It cowered before Hercules. We fed the dog three large steaks and then descended the well. Below was the River of Fire, and the Ferryman Chiron. We asked to be granted audience with Hades to recover what didn’t belong here. He ferried across the river and we discovered Hades sitting upon his Throne. He sneered at us and asked if we were here to surrender ourselves. We scoffed and rebuked him saying nay, we sought one who’s time had not come yet. He showed Danalaus his father, quite alive and well – albeit being tortured. Danalaus rushed to him and held him. Kyros and Company were walking closer when Hades said “You, give me that.” He sought the Cherry Kyros carried. Filia rebuked him saying “No, it’s his gift, and you can’t have it.” A nearby group of shades had surrounded the group, and one close by reached out to grab the Cherry. Kyros’s reaction was swift, he lashed out at not only the offending shade, but all that surrounded them, cutting them all down. Hades tried to do a divine call and the Cherry rebuked him, and finally he summoned flame, to which was dispelled by a snow storm (Courtesy of Filia’s knitted cap). Kyros reached Danalaus, the others touched him and he ate the cherry, leaving the seed.

Returning to the Throne Room, the group was surprised to see a coronation in progress. Danalaus stopped the ceremony. We then had a celebration for the return of the older king, and Hercules. Hercules asked to be pardoned of his final trial, and then requested a woman of his choosing from the Danalaus. Danalaus had to sate Hercules’s lustful request with eight woman when Filia declined his agressive advances.

Danalaus was sought by three men from different kingdoms – Athens, Troy and Sparta. Each seeking an alliance, but not wanting any treaty with the others. Sparta for Marriage, Athens and Troy for trade. Kyros snuck back to his ship to avoid all the fame he found he got from his legendary adventures.

We ended the game…

NEXT SEASON – The Trojan War.

Recap by Mike (duly noting the recap was quite lengthy)

GM Summary of the game:

The players recalled the information gathered from the one live assassin – an image and memory of obtaining the job from a man wearing a half-veil in a seedy dive bar. Kier took note of that blasted manhole and for once in his life noticed the shadows moved from the manhole. He gave chase – like a cheetah, he ran leaping acrobatically to run upon the “thieves’ highway’, Kenshin attempted to follow, but failed miserably, being left behind. Hawkeye transported the rest of the group to the location of the drawbridge where Mother approached, and got Yon to let them in. They confronted the soldier who’d been possessed and after determining he was truly possessed, subdued him and then fought the shadow that tried to possess Kier. As they left the castle – Mother noted they were being watched. Hawkeye transported himself to the bedroom to confront a small girl maybe 6 or 7 years of age, along with Kier, her remarks were innocent enough, but led Kier to discover a deposited package. Using their various resources, they learned the packages aided in scrying and suppression of magics nearby. Kier had collected three of them and returned later on to find an additional 12 scattered around the castle.

Searching dive bars, they located the bar where the mysterious man with the veil was. The barkeep told Hawkeye he was an information dealer that went by the name of ‘Frag’. The group would later learn that the man’s name was Frag Ment, He was starting a business to keep tabs upon nobles and thought the name his business Loyds. He offered a job to Hawkeye, who turned him down. Hawkeye left by another route after Frag warned him of a man who was planning on jumping him. Later on Kier would talk with Frag, and took a job being a courier, paid 100gp for the job. After more searching, they discovered the leather shop near the castle did more than cater to soldiers leather needs, it also caters to a certain kind of soldier. Kier gets a second job, but doesn’t follow through with it, instead warning the noble being spied upon and returning the money to Frag.

Kier then breaks into the bar after hours, and notices he can’t observe one corner of the room. After being here so often his roguish senses are kicking in. He calls it a night and informs everyone of what he learned the next day.

Two messages are found for Kier in the morning, the rest of the group gets a single message – a royal invite to the castle for heroic deeds. The second message is a note delivered by a street boy with a simple warning “Your life is in danger, meet me at the meat vendor stall in two hours”. Finding the location a very private location, Kier meets with Kara, a street rogue who’s loyalties are in favor of the rogues guild, she shows him the 100,000gp reward for his death – only 50,000 if he’s alive. Kier learns that the Guild is not happy with this upstart Cult moving into their turf and making it difficult for their lucrative business operations – No messing with the Royals.

Kier and company investigate the odd missing corner at the ‘Regal Beagle’. Geardrof is able to lower the ward for the group, but oddly enough the patrons and bartender take no note of it. In the corner is a stool of Bone or dark ivory, upon it is a Statuette with the Ancient Chaos symbol where the mouth would be (Chaos Symbol is the circle with Arrows going out in Eight directions). Upon a mantle above the stool is a small gargoyle leering down – hidden from view is the Tabarath Symbol of the Heart with an X in it. Hawkeye and Kier both mess with the little idol and pay for their curiosity – Kier’s hands become living ice on one side, and lava rock on the other – Hawkeye loses complete mental facilties and actually becomes a Zombie! “Brains”. As ‘Mother’ tries to cure him, he tries to eat her arm. Kenshin disables him and they decide they’ve messed with fate long enough and seek Simon’s aid. Simon sends Kier and Hawkeye to see a mystic – whom cleanses them both of the Chaos taint [Hawkeye has a new scar from the base of his nose to the base of his neck] and Kier got his hands restored. Simon then responds to Mother’s invite to go to the ball by letting her know a dress has been commissioned for her at the dressmaker shop. She and Ella both go and find dresses for them – regal and expensive ones. Ella notes a cherry blossom in hers. They attend the ball and enjoy the festivities – Kier leaves by a different route after a warning from Kara.

Base 24 CP + 2 Duties = 26 CP [No Bonus Feat for this level]

It’s All Greek to Me – Session 3

“There is no Fury like an Over-God Scorned!” or “Justice has been served, now serving the Mother Oracle”

Players Present:

  • Andrew (as Kyros)
  • Bekah (as Filia)
  • Calvin (as Bion)
  • Sean (as Danalus)
  • Daniel (as Cleatus)

We began with a recap by Andrew (Reading the previous log). No meals as everyone had eaten earlier – though Halloween Candy did make an appearance.

The game began with the ship cresting waves at a breakneck pace. Aided by Bion, the ship achieved speeds of epic proportion. Filia went to consult with Artemis to plead the case of Kyros and his case, that things were going to break loose if they didn’t act soon. Filia was told that perhaps a deal could be made with Apolo himself – Dunixi losing her power. Filia returned with the initial negotiation, which Kyros contemplated, and then pointed out that would not bring justice to those murdered by the Mother Oracle, nor bring justice for Danalaus, nor would it be just if Uranus was indeed falsely imprisoned. Bion consulted with Posedion and was told freeing Uranus would be bad. Flashes of light were seen on the island, to get to the hidden cave Filia brought forth pegasus, and Kyros made them all light enough that Pegasus was able to fly them to the cave.

The Ghost of Sparta met them. He hailed Kyros and bid him and his allies leave the island for Ares, god of war, claimed the island. Kyros scoffed at him and told him he thinks not, and that the messenger would face defeat for the first time if he did not leave the Island claimed already by him on behalf of Athena. The Ghost approached which prompted Kyros to attack drawing first blood and shocked disbelief. He told Filia to go and parley with Uranus -for he knew the battle could be his last. The battle was fast, as the Ghost employed Chain Swords bound to his wrists. The first blow against Kyros was mighty (12 of 32), Kyros taunted the Ghost while missing by the barest of measure. Bion blasted through his magical protections and dealt hefty damage. The third round Kyros struck another mighty blow and successfully taunted him that the Ghost dropped his guard momentarily as rage creased his face, another massive blow staggered Kyros, Bion gave aid to Kyros as healing water struck him. On the final round, the Ghost was laid low by another powerful blast by Bion. Kyros bid spare the life of the soldier. Bion messaged Filia to return.

Tied up to a tree, they interrogated the prisoner, learned that Ares had dispatched him after Zeus had met with Ares. Kyros released the prisoner on the condition he not return as by right of conquest the island was now his. As a prize Bion was able to exact a favor in the future. Kyros then prayed feverently for guidance from Athena. She was able to manifest, he told her all he knew and wished to know if Uranus was unjustly imprisoned. She told the beginning tale and Kyros told of his planned negotiations for the release of the All Father. She blessed his plan and gave to him a Cloak that would prevent any mental manipulation from coming to pass.

Kyros left with purpose to negotiate with the mighty Uranus. The negotiations were intense as Kyros summed up the following requests:

  • Athena and Artemis would be spared and not lose power
  • He would aid Athena and Artemis
  • All curses brought about unjustly would be lifted
  • The gods themselves would be bound by tighter order and require their worshipers
    • Uranus agreed that a god would be unable to affect a worshiper of another god
    • The gods would gain power from their worshipers
  • That justice be dealt to the Mother Oracle for her crimes, and all who aided her – including Hades and Apollo
  • That the world be restored after the upcoming godswar so that the populations would thrive
  • Protections against retribution for the group
  • And a blessing for each in the group by Uranus

In return for all those demands, Uranus countered with a demand of his own – That he be allowed to restructure the Pantheon as he see fit. Re-assuring that Athena and Artemis would not lose their portfolio.

Kyros agreed to the terms and released the mighty dragon god Uranus.

The group was instantly teleported back to the ship, before the massive dragon turtles destroyed it, as Uranus plucked the ship from the water and made haste to Delphi. Uranus met in epic battle Apolo. While they fought the ship flew to the Temple of the Oracle, where Kyros and company made their way to the Mother Oracle. The guards delayed them for just a moment – “What business do have here?” “I’m expected by the Mother Oracle, tell her Kyros is here” “One moment sir.” Goblet shattering heard, guard returns pale and shaking saying weakly “She’s not here”, “Yes she is, stand aside”. Striding in, the Mother Oracle sits upon her throne visibly shaken “You can keep her!” “No, your doom is sealed!” Kyros and Bion slay her where she sits. “Justice has been served, let this be a lesson to use your powers for the good of mankind or share the same fate”. As Apollo is ripped in half and his heart devoured by the Dragon, Uranus.

  • The group leveled to 3rd level (26 CP)
  • Each character granted a +4 Divine Bonus to one Stat permanently
  • Dunixi’s oracle abilities lifted (Same as the rest of the oracles with Apollo’s demise)
  • Danalaus’s curse lifted and he returned to being a man
  • Uranus wages a battle against the gods – Zeus, Hades, Ares. Athena and Artemis are granted status in the new pantheon structure being 2nd tier under Uranus.

Danalaus, being freed of his curse, proclaims he must return home and reclaim his birthright. We agree to accompany him as a worthy friend and ally. Returning home, he claims rulership from the Lord Protector Axis, and learns that his father went mad the same time Danalaus had disappeared, and slew his wife, and then fled to the cursed dungeons. Danalaus held his coronation and then planned to save his lost father. Meanwhile the new Triad are promoted by a ship full of new converts.

“Most Powerful Decisions to Make”

  • Andrew
  • Calvin
  • Dan

  • Bekah

We left Troy into the Black Sea – during the travel two crew were killed by shades, Kyros drove them away after he discovered they wanted Dunixi. Bion destroyed them – water implosion ball. Kyros warded the ship to prevent further encroachment by the shades.

They landed on a island – Bion wandered off, and got stuck in a cave. They retrieved him from the cave, but discovered an immensely powerful being resides in the cave claiming to be Uranus – the All Creator of everything. They debated whether freeing such a being would be a wise course of action. Eventually they left the island determining that unleashing something of that power should be a decision without coercion and thoughtful insight… Even though consulting with the gods didn’t accomplish anything. At Filios, Kyros and Filia went to console the families of the fallen sailors. They then reprovisioned and did brisk trade. Time in port was going to be three days. Back on the ship, a big burly guy wanted on the ship. Bion stopped him, and then discovered people jumping off the side of the boat with the cabin boy over their shoulder (GM Decided the Cabin Boy was tired and wanted to stay onboard the ship). Bion blasted the three bodies back onto the deck and had the Marines engage the kidnappers. Bion messaged Kyros that they were under attack. Kyros called upon great speed and took off in a burst to the ship. Danaluas fired at the kidnappers (secretly working with them). Kyros arrived to see both marines cut down. In heroic grandeur, he landed on the deck and quickly made short work of the assailants. He then discovered the ensorcelled water barrel that allowed the men to find his ship. He established a connection with the mother oracle and tried to negotiate in good faith on behalf of the runaway oracle, but the mother oracle wouldn’t negotiate – the conversation ended with Kyros promising the Mother Oracle would regret her decision as he promised to bring every resource at his disposable to her destruction. He then set course back to island where Uranaus was held captive.

Adventure Synopsis – The band of adventures meet on the island where the Spartans have a group of 50 soldiers that have taken over a village. The goal of the group is to rescue an Egyptian Noble Lady. In doing so they deal with the Spartan leader, assess the layout, and stage a rescue killing the four Spartan guards, defeating a nemesis “Egan” and rescuing both the Egyptian Princess and a Merchant ally of Kyros.

Detailed accounts by Andrew:

The group has been together for six months, Kyros is the captain of the ship. On-board as a Marine is “Alex Ava” a male archer; Filios is a male archer; Bion is a Spear fighter, he’s a Son of Poseidon; Cleatus is a sailor who is unaware he is also a Son of Poseidon; Dunixi is a male spear fighter, and the ship cabin boy and personal attendant to the captain. At the beginning of the game we met Danalaus, a man cursed to the form of a Minotaur who was shipwrecked with a rather incompetent sailor. Before we met Danalaus, he’d rescued a newborn male baby.

Kyros gets a message by falcon from Casandra requesting a rescue of a Egyptian Noble Woman held captive by Spartans. Dunixi gets a vision of the Egyptian (Casandra) writing the letter and a menacing figure over her forcing her to write the note. She also knows the lady must be rescued. She mentions the lady needs to be rescued but omits the menacing figure. In four days we make it to the island where the Spartans are based. Another Ship is docked on the beach near the town. The Greek Vessel is beached further up out of sight, and a rescue party is formed to infiltrate and get the Egyptian. While in the woods, the group discovers a Minotaur, after some dialog he’s welcomed to assist – he explained he was shipwrecked and had no love of the Spartans.

The group quickly learns who can be stealthy, and who lacks the proper quality. Kyros, Dunixi and Alex infiltrate the town. The Spartans have set up their HQ in a temple. Seeing no other choice, Kyros disguises himself as an Egyptian slave traders to gain audience with the Spartan commander. He deals business with the Spartan and is able to learn the Egyptian is nearby in the HQ. Making their way back to a local inn, plans are laid on how to get her. Kyros sees his hated rival Egan, a man with two blades. Meanwhile,  Dunixi learns that Alex is a female with a horrible past.

Kyros gathers the others outside and places the archers to cover the building, while he, Dunixi and Bion make their way to the temple. Acting as if discussing business they catch the two Spartan guards completely unaware. Dunixi makes his way inside now disguised as a Spartan and informs the others he thinks they’re under attack, those two go outside and are easily dispatched by the two waiting for them.

Searching the interior they discover a secret room underneath the altar where the Egyptian Noble is held, she introduces herself as the Queen of Egypt. Dunixi puts together that this is a rather elaborate trap for us and voices that concern as she mentally contacts Alex that we’re in danger. At that moment a contingent of 18 men led by Egan appear just as we’re escaping the building. Alex takes aim, mutters a prayer to Artemis, and deals a mighty blow of legend to Egan [43 points of damage] staggering the vile man. His troops gather around him with lightning reflexes and try to pull him back to the safety of the ship. Egan bellows out to Kyros how he has someone important and would return. Putting the clues together, Kyros realizes he must have Casandra captive as well, sending Dunixi to escort the Queen, he sets himself to face the oncoming enemy and give Dunixi and the Queen time to escape to safety. Bion pulls out his waterskin and blasts the troops with a watery explosion, easily felling 10 men. Kyros utters an Oath of Speed and rushes past the now fleeing men to get to the ship, when he notices a sack that could hold a woman close to Egan. Egan is dropped by Bion’s magic, the enemies surrender, and Kyros in a fit of anger chops off Egan’s head and frees Cansandra. They all meet back at the ship, and set sail to Egypt to drop off Casandra, and the queen. Learning that the Mother Oracle had set Egan to kidnap Casandra and is plotting more personal destruction does not sit well with Kyros. Dunixi however gets a very personal message from the Mother Oracle I will not stop until I get you back ~ knowing that returning would be a lifelong doom of slavery, Dunixi determines to stay the course. Danalaus, the minotaur, gets a message from a sailor while on leave at the Egyptian port city. After re-provisioning for a week, they return to Troy with their cargo and discover a battle between a Spartan and Trojan vessel. They help the Trojans defeat the Spartan vessel and Meet Paris, crown prince of Troy. They patch the Trojan vessel and are treated as royal guests in Troy.

We ended early around 12:30am.
