Sketch Notes by Andrew

[These will be filled in more detail later, but for now they give a general idea of the game – I’ve debated whether to use a Third Person GM style, or a more personalized Journal from the Character perspective. In this case, I opted to use a little of both. Enjoy.]

[As recounted by Professor Stark] During class at the university, I received an urgent summons from Mr. Claude requesting my presence immediately. I left my cat, Synidoth, to teach the students in the middle of my class, while I gathered Ms. Summers and ‘teleported’ to the Town Hall. I was distressed to note that Ms. Roxanne is no longer manning the front desk, instead it’s a man who seems very flustered, even the main computer is down and not able to confirm my identity. I pointed out he’ll need to repair the computer as it’s obviously fried. Everyone arrives, Dr. Blake, Ms. Grede, and Kiiro; absent is Gus. We can’t help but notice that the Magic in the city is less than it should be, anything and everything powered by magic is operating at a decreased output, almost sluggish. Even the illustrious Mister Claude looks ghastly, aged and a shell of his former youthful self. Everything relying on magic seems to be failing in the city proper. Mr. Claude admits that the city uses a magical fuel that was discovered by himself and kept secret, that powers the magnificent city. It’s a Liquid Adamantine with raw magic. I check my resources and believe only a living spirit made of such a substance, and blessed by a divine entity could cause such a phenomena, though I’m eager to see this source and verify my working theory.  Though Mr. Claude believes someone is stealing ‘gallons’ of the material, which is why the city is being affected in such a manner.

[Notes: Sent to investigate the Source of Power for the City – apparently liquid adamatine is an energy source pretty much unknown anywhere else. Ambushed by a photographer, his flash camera sent Kiiro away, then Ms. Summers, and the prick stabbed me after resisting my Color Spray – which  also sent me away.]

The group splits off to do research, Dr. Blake and Ms. Grede go and gather information from their sources, while Prof Stark, Ms. Summers and Kiiro go into the sewers to check the power source. Kiiro finds a camera module for film with a green slime substance. It’s magical and Prof Stark keeps it in a pocket dimension for further analysis later. Removing a Necromantic Ward, but unable to remove the Divination Ward, we enter the next section, only to be surprised by a Camera Wielding Looney. “Cheese” *Flash* Kiiro Disappears! Ms. Summers summons a rope to surround the man, but it falls harmlessly at his feet, “I Said Say Cheese!” *Flash* Ms. Summers is gone! I Spread my fingers “Cheese!” [Color Spray], no effect. He tosses the camera aside and stabs me with a crude knife coated in the slime.  I seem to go *poof*

[Dr. Blake and Ms. Grede are ambushed, and taken prisoner too]

[Strange Surroundings, find ourselves in a bed room – halfling Popeye found with Prof, Kiiro and Ms. Summers; Half-Elf Charna Rose found with Dr. Blake and Ms. Grede]

[Kiiro gets a note from the receptionist of the Inn, it’s a poem that is about a play and signed the “tooth fairy”. Photographer is the one who bought the rooms with cash.]

[Popeye finds a newspaper about an opera – coincidence?]

[Travel to the Opera and are ambushed by ruffians – Ms. Rose is quite the tomboy and grapples the first ruffian. I relieve my hooligan of his weapon, and then after he persists, I accidentally break his neck with a well-placed blow from my Cane. Kiiro finishes off his assailant. After searching the bodies, we locate some magic items that could be useful, as well as a note about targetting a “Maria”, connection to the Opera character?]

Magic Items Discovered:

  • Monocle that grants +5 to Knowledge Checks if one takes time to ponder the issue at hand
  • Elegant Elongated Magic Dagger, +1 Enhancement; must have the ability to use a Short Sword
  • Gloves of Accuracy – Grants a +2 to Hit with Physical Attacks
  • Sash of Stealthiness – Grants a +5 to Stealth Checks

\Find an “Angel Circle” a road intersects between two ponds, of which three swans are found in each pond. Ms. Summers shares an interesting vision of a Armored man being expelled by psychic force and a stronger shield going up, the swans are more than mere swans, but communication is one-sided. Angel Circle is a Protective area that prevents harm to psychic entities that reside therein.

[Arrive at the Opera house – Player missed a portion – the playwright  is in a tizzy over his missing star Maria, at the mention of “The Show must go on” he sees potential in Ms. Summers and convinces her that participation in the opera will be fully compensated for her talent and time.]

Mike’s Submission:


Everybody is called to the Mayor’s mansion.
Mr stark asks the mayor about what’s happening… telling his receptionist how to fix the computer.
He gets to Mr Claude ahead of the others, but the others do get there.
We all sit down and notice the mayor is more aged than he used to be, and the magical items (automated) are not working (desks which would magically appear are already out and magicless)
The magic of the city is being siphoned. The source is a well underneath the sewers. It seems to be perpetual magic for recreational use. Our duty is to find anybody siphoning the magic and bring them to the mayor, or find out what is siphoning the magic and bring it or information about it to the mayor.
He shows us a map of how to get to the well.
We go, some of us gathering information, others going through the sewers to find the well.
Those who went down see foreign liquid and collect some
Those who are at the tavern talk to one of the bartenders… who tells us something about divination. He tries to call someone when we leave, and when we ask him about it, he calls people to remove us.
Down in the sewers, they spellcraft that the walls around them are also magical (but harmfulous)
they also determine they’ve got company, who has a camera.
When the camera flashes, Kiiro disappears.
Mr Stark makes him drop his camera, and the guy stabs Mr Stark, but Mr Stark is not damaged, he just falls over.
Two people come up behind Dr Blake and Griselda. They end up chloroformed and wake up in stasis.
A male halfling (popeye) is on a bed in a crappy hotel room with Mr Stark, Hiiro, and Olivia.
A female wood elf (charna) is on a bad in a crappy hotel room with Dr Blake and Griselda.
Everybody talks to their new friend, and Prof Stark pounds on the wall to Dr Blake who is loud.
An elderly woman down the hall tells us to keep it down.
Charna would prefer if Dr Blake did not inspect her eye behind her eyepatch.
Popeye is gruff and a tad more harsh of a voice.
Hiiro goes to the front desk, and “fuzzy one” receives a letter.
We are in the town of Ivalice?
He explains to us the letter’s contents – The tooth fairy has kidnapped again… we have to solve her riddles… again…
Popeye searches the room for clues… and finds a local newspaper. He takes it.
Gri takes a business card from the hotel.
Mr Stark asks for a dentistry… and gets directions
Popeye grumbles something about gay dentists…
Mr Stark mentally contacts his familiar.
Popeye hands Mr Stark the paper, which talks about an opera (and so did “fuzzy one’s” letter) so that’s where we should go next.
As he reads, Gri is rather close reading too.
Dr Blake hands us each a pill. Some of us question him, but when Prof Stark downs one, we follow more gladly.
The pills automatically heal us for CLW when we’re hit, for 24 hours.
Popeye tries to scout the trail ahead of the party, asking for a ride from Hiiro.
Most of us hear a screaming, those of us who remember her know it’s Roslyn’s scream magically in our ear.
A man leaps from a treebranch, shooting a crossbow at Popeye but missing.
Three combat people jumped from trees, we all fight as best we can.
One of the badguys is disarmed by Mr Stark, had a pill thrown in his throat by Dr Blake, then punched by Mr Stark again.
One is grappled by Hiro, missiled by Gri, and stabbed to death by popeye.
Chanta grapples one into unconsciousness Charna.
Good team effort.

We inspect the bodies, finding a dagger that works as a shortsword.
We also find a sash with something trasmutation… stealthy
and a pair of gloves which give +2 to hit
then a monacle which +5 to multi-round trained knowledge checks.
Also, a blank book and a note, as well as 30 gold.

The man who was unconsciousness is woken up and admits he was paid by a black haired prick…
He keeps hitting on Charna who kicks him multiple times.

The guy also had a note on him:  “Target – Maria”
In all the violence interrogating the helpless attacker, 26 teeth are knocked out. Popeye keeps them for the tooth fairy.
Dr Blake writes a note for the tooth fairy and monograms it.

The book writes itself about us as we go along. It’s psychic.

As we’re walking, Olavia hears oinking in her mind, finds figurines of three little pigs in her head, then pulls some out that she thinks she didn’t have before. Hiiro grabs the yellow one and hears the same oinking. The blue one wants to stick with Olavia. The third one, the red one, bonds with Mr Stark. It speaks to him saying “Fire.”
they sprout chains and are necklace.

The road we go on has better than dwarf craftsmanship… leading to the operahouse.
Gri picks up a feather.
Dr Blake casts detect magic and finds none.
Mr Stark is aided (knowledge check) to find out that it’s a sanctified angels pond.
Gri puts the feather in the pond with swans… it goes toward the center with no rippling.
Olavia gets a vision about an armor clad man pushed out of the pond. The swans seem sad.
It gets angrier… Olivia talks to it, and it gives basic responses like it’s not mad the man was pushed out… it’s not mad the man is not here.

We go to the opera house door. There’s a man at a pedestal saying “no no no… the swan is missing… the opera is ruined”
Mr Stark shows him the note and the man flips out. We offer help. He is very inquisitive over Olavia and told her she will be the new Maria! Olavia is tugged to the dressing room and says FIND MARIA!
Hiiro follows her to the dressing room, Gri calls him a pervert. Hiiro ignores her.
(You did hear me ignore you, right?)
Popeye starts wanting to be involved in the production… He sings and dances to the Impresario.
The Impresario insists we sit up front, but Dr Blake and Gri want to sit in back. Charna and Popeye sit up front.
Everybody dolls up Olavia (but not through illusion, it seems)
Dr Blake and Gri don’t find much information.
Mr Stark goes outside to mentally talk to the swans but doesn’t find much.
Hiiro sneaks up to a dressing room
“Maria” waits backstage and practices her lines.
Act II comes to the pinnacle where “Maria” is performing, singing, dancing… she fumbles a bit but a magic ring keeps her on track.
The Impresario hands Mr Stark and Hiiro note with the same format as the Easter Bunny… They read it.
Once Olavia comes backstage, someone tells her that the actor for Rols sprained his ankle, and Popeye will be getting some stage time! We must proceed to scene III.
Mr Stark tells Dr Blake. Dr blake finds Rols, and Gri follows.
Dr Blake tries to detect evil…
As Olavia is on the stage, two men fall and she interrupts slightly by throwing a cushion to help the to fall.
One of the two men interrupt Maria as she goes to tell the orchestra to start again, and he says “Maria, it is not safe” somewhat in character.

Chosen Ones – Session 33

We find the group still out on the street, Simon is still taken aback by the story of a different timestream. He has the group return to the inn. Once there, Everyone is evaluated by some sort of knight wearing a burnished full plate with a Starburst with a  Six Pointed Star inside. Barrett is found to be tainted – He’s taken to be atoned, and healed in a Temple – The Dragon that captured Arky is at the Altar, he asks Barrett if he repents for giving himself to Ocremesch, Barrett does and is healed and atoned. Andreas, Vincent and Laelia participate in training; Tod goes to the forest and finds obvious signs to aid in pursing the carriage, though the traps are a bit imposing.

Once Barrett has been restored to his usual self, he joins Tod and Malcolm who are heading out to find Simon to request items to assist vs. fire.

While walking down the street, the groups spots a trio of woman in robes with a half-crescent moon, like a smile, with lines going out and a circle above the crescent moon. They seem to be looking at the crowd intently. Tod approaches them.

[Conversation particulars are not fully remembered by the GM, looking for player assist]

Tod: “Excuse me, I couldn’t help but notice your scanning the crowd. Who are you?”

Lady Talwin after eyeing Tod up and down for a moment “You use an… interesting form of magic. We are the Sisters of Perpetual Magical Enlightenment, and we are looking for a wizard of some repute“.

Tod, thinking back to the recent Candlemage incident thinks they seek him, “Does this wizard have a name?”

Lady Talwin, “We seek one called… Malcolm. Do you know of him“.

Tod Converses with Malcolm Telepathically {These Ladies are searching for you Malcolm}

Tod ” Why yes, I think that is him right over there“.

Lady Talwin “Thank You“.

The Sisters head towards Malcolm, who has been researching and gathering information on them from around the street. Apparently they’re a legit group based in the City of Phelan.

Lady Talwin to Malcolm “Excuse me, are you known as Malcolm?”

Malcolm “I am.”

Lady Talwin “We are the Sisters of Perpetual Magical Enlightenment and we’ve heard some of your exploits and are here to invite you to teach at our Collegium in Phelan“.

Malcolm “I’d be honored, but am currently engaged in a quest, perhaps afterwards I can take you up on your offer?”

Lady Talwin “Of course, here is a token, present it when you do come to our Collegium“.  She hands him a  token and then they depart.

Demetrius alerts his master that a boy is in the backpack. Malcolm startles the boy who withdraws his hand rapidly.

Malcolm “What are you doing?”

Boy “You had a piece of dust on your backpack, it’s all fixed, okay, bye!” The boy runs off. The others say Malcolm cannot be like Arky and keeping random creatures inside his backpack. Malcolm discovers his money pouch is missing.

There is a chase, they cut the boy off in an alley, he scampers up a wall, which astounds Barrett, Malcolm fires off a suggestion “Return to me”, and the boy complies. Malcolm takes hold of the boy. Barrett grabs the coin purse that Malcolm identifies as his own. Questioning the boy they don’t learn anything – other than the fact he didn’t want to tell them the truth. He disappears under a spell of invisibility and rushes off easily eluding Malcolm’s grasp. They’re intercepted by burning Wax Golems that are summoned from yet another candle stick holder. After the confrontation Tod dejectedly admits chasing the boy is fruitless as he’s out of his See Invisibility range.

Tod decides to do an incantation ritual to find all the Candle Mage’s traps in town [There are six remaining traps in the town]. While Barrett and Malcolm go and find Simon. They locate Simon and after Barrett tries to explains what they need, he acquires a few scrolls of Fire Resistance 10, and a Ring of Fire Resistance 30. The Ring is on loan.

The group heads into the forest, following the very obvious trail, eventually they locate the carriage. When Barrett examines the carriage, it explodes. They follow the trail to find “Dan” in a grove, which is heavily trapped. A black Shadow Cat saunters out into the grove mocking the group it seems, it ignores all of Tods verbal requests. It then heads away after the group dispels a few of the magics in the area.

Barrett follows the ‘black cat’  to a ravine, he sees it go towards a pond with a small waterfall, and it ducks inside. He sends the Ferret to check out the inside and sees a mystical archway.

Meanwhile, Tod bravely enters the grove and gets trapped inside a prismatic sphere, he sends the rest of the group away. Malcolm is blinded [6 round duration]m, Laelia gives him the gift of Blindsight to compensate as she cannot cure blindness.

Tod sets off the next trap, gets reduced and healed almost instantly. He questions the boy, who is also named Dan, but isn’t the same Dan; this Dan was traveling with his family when he awoke in this strange place. The Prismatic Sphere drops, and Tod catches up. He requests Malcolm to take Dan to Simon. Upon Malcolm returning, they enter the cave behind the waterfall, which has a tied up boy near the Mystic portal. As soon as Malcolm enters, his backpack explodes [116 damage to the party], the mystical arch is damaged directly by the blast and a beam of light.

We ended right after the explosion happened…


Mike’s Submission:

The characters go to see Simon, and realize we do not know how to summon the Eagle.
Simon summons a man in armor who has a symbol. Malcolm touches it. It turns white. Barrett touches it. It turns black.
The man stares at Barrett, and without changing his gaze at Barrett, he holds it toward Todd.
Todd touches it and it turns white. The man asks Barrett if he repents. Barrett says yes, the man says “Follow me.”
Malcolm follows Barrett. The symbol is touched to the wall, a portal with runes shows up, and the man goes through.
Barrett follows, as does Malcolm.
Barrett feels ickly squigglies of his body “falling asleep.” (like your leg would) Malcolm does not. Then we’re in a Grand Cathedral.
The draconic creature that retrieved Arky is there.
He asks for attonement, and the creature invokes an attonement spell.
Barrett asks if the dragon’s timeline was changed too. The creature responds “The timeline is the timeline.”
Tod is enticed by the carriage… he figures out that the tracks in the ground are magically enhanced to leave a trail for Tod to know to follow. Luna and blink got off… Artemis (the black cat of the candle mage) got bigger at the edge of the forest.

Tod walks back in as Malcolm and Barrett arrive. He explains where everybody is, and that he was following the tracks of the carriage which stole Dan.
We bicker over how to proceed sans the rest of the crew (absences)
We go find Simon. As we’re walking we see three ladies with symbols on their clothes walking through the crowd.
Tod detects magic and the three women *are* magic. They scan the crowd. He and Malcolm talk about the possibility of the ladies being monarchy.
Tod approaches them, Malcolm gathers information about them from the crowd.
Tod notices they have glowing eyes through his magical sight. He asks them who they are and they are the sisters of perpetual magical enlightenment… Tod can’t figure it out either way. He links and broadcasts that, Malcolm has heard of them and knows they’re legit. Malcolm stops searching. Tod talks to them more and figures out they’re searching for Malcolm! They think he’s a mage of ill repute.
Malcolm is in an impressive conversation with the owner of a magical regent vendor.
Tod tells Malcolm they’re on their way to him.
They talk, and ask Malcolm to teach at the collegeium of Faelen. He declines for the moment, but says another time he would. She gave him a coin with the same symbol as her shirt. Demetrius brain-mails Malcolm. A boy is messing with his backpack. The boy runs away and malcolm tries to grab the boy. Malcolm fails, the boy runs, and climbs up a wall.
Malcolm “suggestions” the boy down to him. As he comes down, he spontaneous searches and knows his money pouch is on the boy. Barrett takes the money pouch and gives it back to malcolm, and Malcolm grabbing the boys arm, asks why he took it.
The boy is fearful, and says “they’ll kill me.”
Malcolm senses he cannot get a good grip on the boy, and the boy isn’t really trying to get away yet.
The boy feels that he’d rather be taken by police than us.
Tod figures out this kid *is* magic and asks if someone sent him. The kid looks really nervous and bluffs “no.”
Tod tells us he has a racoon spirit aronud him, a tinaku. Which is like a dire racoon.
The kid goes invisible and runs away, Tod switches witch-sight, and flies after him, Barrett and Malcolm follow Tod.
Barrett and Tod are attacked by waxy figures. We attack them and win. There are rubies inside that are up to level 3 metamagic enhancement on summoned creatures. Malcolm will need to attune them to him (XP Loss) but he claims them.
Tod wants Malcolm to contact the sisters of perpetual magical enlightenment to help rid the town of traps using divination.
Malcolm goes to the pub with Barrett.
Simon gives Barrett a fire resistance ring and fire resistance scrolls (which he gives malcolm the scrolls)
We head for the magical tracks, this time with Lelia.
Barrett touches the carriage and as soon as Barrett touches it, the carriage flies in an explosion (Barrett evades) and flames engulf the area (Tod and Malcolm are a safe distance away)
We come to a grove. In the grove is a slab, and on the slab is Dan. There is magic all around and we suspect a trap.
Also here is the cat form of Aku. Malcolm and Tod talk to it and it ignores them.
Malcolm tries using Telekinesis and fails.
Lelia and Tod try and dispel. Malcolm watches intently (trying to figure it out.)
The boy doesn’t look like Dan anymore. The cat walks away. Barrett goes around and follows the cat.
Malcolm flies above the magic, Tod walks into the field. A trap goes off, and he is locked in. Malcolm is blinded.
Lelia casts blindsight on Malcolm. Tod tells us to go after the candlemage.
Barrett is already ahead and sends Dyne into the grotto.
Tod walks closer to the boy, and takes some damage (reduced) but instantly heals.
Tod talks to the boy, and the boy doesn’t know anything about Tod. A “message” is then whispered to Tod saying ‘wrong danny boy.’ then laughter. He heals the boy and the shield goes off.
Dyne finds a hogtied 8 year old boy inside, and brain-mails the group.
Malcolm teleports the fake dan to Hilsofar, and teleports back. Tod goes in the waterfall, followed by Barret.
As soon as Malcolm steps into the grotto his backpack explodes, a burst of light hits the portal at the other end.
(apparently the kid who stole my coin pouch trapped my Backpack)

Children’s Crusade – Session 5

Money Bag In White

The Patrol Mission

The Man-at-Arms requested the group to his chamber. He seemed rather upset by the last mission results. One of the boys representing the king still has the Pink hair and the Tail of a Donkey. He’s received word that the Fey in the nearby locale are not happy and are causing trouble.

He decides a life lesson on the streets would be well worth it. He calls in one of his tougher and experienced patrol leaders – Lt. Dan. “Lt. Dan, I have some younglings I need to saddle with you. You’ll have them patrol the seediest parts of the town and let them see life outside of luxury. Give them the assignment and stay out of sight. Don’t interfere unless they are about to be killed.”, Lt. Dan looks rather perturbed about the assignment, but salutes smartly “If I may sir?” Duncan nods, “What have I done to deserve the baby sitting assignment?”, “Well, you’re the toughest and meanest soldier I’ve got, and you’ve never been a brown noser, which I like about you. You won’t kowtow to them or give them any slack. Now get to it. I’ll have the younglings sent to you within the hour. Also, take them on a tour of the countryside, I want them away from the palace for at least six hours.”

[Enter the group]

“I’m rather disappointed with the reports I got about your last mission assignment, seems you need to learn a thing or two about humility and such. You’re to report to Lt. Dan as part of his patrol unit. He has several patrols under him. He handles the slums and low side of the town. You’ll do as he says. Dismissed.”

The group reports dutifully to Lt. Dan.  Horace speaks up “Reporting for duty.” Talios speaks “What do you need us to do.” Lt. Dan holds up a hand “You’ll be your own patrol, I’ve made you this patrol route through the slums and seedy areas. Don’t kill anybody unless you’re in mortal danger. Anything suspicious report back to me. And one other thing, don’t let your money get stolen. Meet at the rendezvous point in two hours. Dismissed.”

The group heads onto the patrol route, they note the disheveled appearance of the area. Further in, they see a street performer juggling fire batons, while another man is working the crowd for donations. The groups devolves into a discussion on not getting robbed. Horace decides to leave 450gp of his 500gp with Huntley, so he can give 50gp to the performer. He does this, and Huntley spots a young girl with pig tails robbing from the hat. The group then takes an alley to avoid the crowd of potential pickpockets. Nikolai spots a stealthy person approaching; as soon as the man is close enough, he deftly slices the money pouch and causes it to fly into his hands with superb skill that is displayed only by a pro; however, Nikolai [rolls a 17 base for the counter] and is able to knock the purse out of the man’s hands. Though they give the man a gold piece and tell him to be on his way.

As they continue onward, Huntley sees the same pig tailed girl skipping along side of him, she starts a conversation, while Talios tries to butt in, she quips a few sly remarks, and gets Huntley to agree to meet her at the park after his shift ends. She skips away, and the group ever mindful of their money pouches, ask Huntley to check his; which both his and Horace’s pouches are missing [Remember, Horace gave Huntley his pouch for safe keeping]. The group gives chase, and are dumbfounded as the girl climbs the side of a two story building unnaturally fast. Nikolai tries to embed an arrow in the ceiling with some rope, while Horace and the others go to the back to force entry. Nikolai succeeds in getting an anchored arrow, but not before something cuts the rope. In frustration, he kicks in the front door, and sees the others coming in the back. They all head to the second story. Nikolai makes roof access by climbing out the window, only to find the roof is deserted.

They meet up with Lt. Dan’s patrol and head out to the outer perimeter. Talios spots the Big Bad Wolf, and a pack of wolves in the other direction. Lt. Dan sends his men to put out a Barn Fire, the group notices a damsel being carried off by green skinned men [Orcs]. Talios gives them several attempts to stop and talk, but three of the Orcs stop and brandish their short swords, while the fourth continues to carry the maiden away. Nikolai pelts the Damsel carrying Orc with Arrows, while the others bravely meet their foes in the field of battle.  The woman is rescued and the Barn Fire is put out.

The Group makes it’s way back, Huntley sneaks off to meet with “Sandy” the pig tailed girl, notices the group is following him despite his efforts to lose them, so he “disappears” and meets up with the girl. She talks with him, and returns his money pouch [500gp only] saying he dropped it when they had met. She gets him to agree to take her to the palace, where she inspects the gold-laced utensils carefully. We end the game with the group being called for an escort mission of the princess to her future betrothed. The group may choose the overland route by horse for seven days, or three days by ship.

Finished the Battle with Lytaros Fel, but wait, his Rat Familiar is still alive… and then transforms into the real Lytaros Fel. More battling before Lashiel Delivers 5 deadly Slices of Death. [Took a total of Five Rounds, and intense tactics – The group realized they had to use AID ANOTHER to strike the villain; The Bond Saved a few lives during the fight; Wall Of Fire SUCKS if you walk through it; Grand of Haste is nasty to trap bad guys; REACH Users should know their powers :). Awesome Job to Nick and Conor for handling the Extra Two Characters]

Barrett convinces Enchelious to forgo the Miracle of Gaen in cleansing the Demons, which seals them in the Fane and instead asks to banish the Demons to their home plane.

They teleport to Hilsfar, loot Lytaros Fel’s body and then proceed to the City. Whereupon, a cloaked figure leaves a cryptic message via the message spell. He disappears, into the ground as shadow, but in it’s place a black cat runs off. Malcolm believes that cat to be the same from his personal past and gives chase along with Barrett. They lose sight of it in an alley, but Malcolm sees a Demonic Leering Aku Face Glyph at the end and stops. Barrett heedless of the danger takes a look around from the roof top. Umbral Whip comes from the shadows, it weakens and grapples Malcolm. Malcolm is able to break free and then Dimension Hops away. Barrett goes and attacks the Aku Demon. It tells Barrett it has no quarrel with him, cocks it’s head and then retreats into the wall. At that moment, Ghostly Sentinels appear and follow the Aku through the wall.

Meanwhile, Vincent and Tod hear Malcolm cry out for help and head into the city, Tod get’s “shot down” by a beam of fire, which oddly enough leaves an outline of a Candle Stick in a Holder. It hurts, and Tod recognizes the calling card of the “Candlemage” and sends his Cat Familiar Luna to check on the boy he had previously rescued (Group is calling the boy Dan). Vincent sees that  a candlestick is what fired at Tod.Luna sees the Boy is being escorted into a wagon by four guards and sees another weird Candlestick which fired a beam at Tod before. Tod ignores the warning and proceeds onward, only to be struck down again and enter a personal hell of torment and pain. Vincent catches him as they both collide int o a wall. Tod gets a message that to enter the carriage will result in the boys’ death by fire. Tod throws up a wall of bubbles. The rest of the group converges and agree that someone should summon Simon. Laelia gets to Tod and heals him with a powerful 6th level healing before the infliction is removed from Tod. Barrett goes to get Simon who seems surprised that the group is back in town, after all, he’d given them a week vacation.

The carriage heads into the forest, as Tod tells the others that interference would result in the boys death.

Lytaros is successful, The demons win, they begin to surge across the world – a group of kids are finishing the ritual into manhood. Fey are beckoning to them to hurry, for the evil has won. Isham, Aaron and Zach look at the village elder wondering if they’ll even see him again. As they rush into the portal the demons enter the village and ravage everything breaking even the gateway. Inside the gateway, Isham and his friends fall into the void — Later these three would be found traveling the stars part of the Royal Exploration Society of the Dragonstar Empire [See Rugged Ones Campaign for further Details]; Though Reece makes an appearance, the Drow Secret Police take an interest in Isham, and makes an enemy of Reece Kilza. Unfortunately, the village elder that was left behind is forced to suffer torment, at least he knows the kids will live. The entire City of Hilsfar is teleported to another dimension, Merrick’s final gift of sacrifice to keep his beloved city safe .

Current Time Line [Party Won]:

“FIRE”, the massive beams of Light rip into the planet, Turk feels the death of thousands of Drow Elves, even though he is safely aboard the Dreadnought Ship, the surge of massive deaths pierces through him. Lloth cries out in frustration that her people were not only destroyed, but those souls aren’t even coming to her. Eilistraee gathers the souls, and plans on reincarnating them into new bodies so they may atone for their numerous crimes before becoming one in her realm. The remaining drow loyal to her are free to live as they have. Lu, Turk, Fox and Belle get on their small shuttle and head home to Oaktop Keep where they work on establishing the Dragon Empire Base on Toril.

The Temple of the Demon God suddenly crumbles to the ground, it’s ghosts of previous sacrificial victims continue to haunt the area, and wildlife avoid the Vale of Fears, but the Trapping Community does well enough. History tells of the Angelic Beings that aided the Righteous Cleric of Gaen in driving the evil Demons from the Valley before they could conquer the land.

Thirteen Hooded Robed figures standing in circle – “We’ve lost a great Ally. The chosen ones (Timelord Minions is the real group name given to them by the Organization of Thirteen Shadows) have meddled in Time and disrupted the alliance.”, another speaks up, points of fire seen briefly from under the hood “Let me deal with them, I’ve been BURNING with Desire to teach them a lesson, especially my good friend Tod.”, “It is agreed, you shall torment them into making foolish mistakes”.

Arkansas Jones tills his farm, happy to take up his parents trade. Looking upon his budding Farm Trade Empire. His new apprentice psychic transporters are making him rich beyond belief, and his druids making for faster crop growth. Though news of his trade secrets have escaped, and he’s got competition. He knew Rosa was nothing but trouble…

The Green Knight enjoys his Honeymoon with his new wife on their estate. Though he is a little upset about the new shipping fees imposed by ‘Jones Farming and Transport Co.’ Though he had to admit the freshness of the produce was fantastic. He considers for a moment if ‘Smith’s Fresh Goods’ is worth the lower cost.


Mike’s Submission:


We’re still in the battle with the three figures, one of which is demon looking.
A shimmering wall of blackness emerges around barrett and Tod. It seems to be sucking their life.
The demon runs from where it was very quickly.
Malcolm pyroblasts the demon and it goes down but a familiar stands where it fell.

15 damage to both equinals as one hits the familiar for 10 damage. (it has insanely high AC)
Andreas shoots a beam at it, but nothing happens. Vincent creates a sword to hit the creature and flank.
The cleric moves then heals the group twice.
Barrett and Tod move up to the familiar and whiff.
The familiar turns into a half demon which looks like the portrait we’ve seen!

We all try to surround the new half-demon and pummel it.
Andreas is aided by Malcolm’s newest bralani summons, and the party is faster with haste from lance.
+2 to saving throws, +2 to AC, and +2 to attacks against the half-demon from Tod’s bubble.
+1 to AC and +1 attack rolls from Vincent’s haste.

The half-demon casts a circle of death, then a lightening bolt…
The guardinal dies, and the bralanis are at 40hp
Malcolm casts dimension step.
The party tries surrounding the badguy.
The bralani aid another, twice each, to andreas and to barrett.
We all continue to attack, and it falls after a barrage topped by Lelia’s cat’s fireball.
The bralani pull the corpse from the fire.

The demon skull talisman, the scroll of teleport without error, and the cure serious potion, and the viewing glass are items on the half-demon. The skull is a luck reroll talisman 1/day
The viewing glass is the only way to see a specific object which is otherwise invisible.
We teleport back to Hilsofar.

As we’re walking to Simon, we notice the white object that was there is gone.
There is a hooded person.
We hear a whisper as we’re a distance away that our meddling is becoming troublesome.
The man disappears into a shadow, and a cat emerges and runs into the city.
Barrett and Malcom chase it. Malcolm brain-mails everybody “Get the cat!” angrily.
We chase it into town, and there’s a dead-end aku smiling symbol.
Malcolm tells the others (namely barrett since tod and vincent both don’t know and don’t care why Malcolm is flying after a cat) to hold up.
Malcolm is grappled and brain-mails for help.
A shadowy aku-demon in the wall has a whip around Malcolm.
It says “I love screwing with your past.”
Malcolm breaks the grapple and dimension hops to 60 feet away.
Barrett punches it, it tells him it has no quarrel with him, and fades into the wall.
Sentinel ghosts from the undead apocalypse before go through the wall too.
Tod has his own run-in with the candle-mage.
The link tells everybody of Tod’s childhood trauma and emotional pain. Tod is unresponsive.
He rushes towards the inn, where the previously burned child is being taken away. Tod is struck again, vincent rushes to help, but cannot lift him from falling.
Malcolm and Barrett rush onto the scene as Vincent tells Malcolm and Barrett to find Simon.
Tod then tells the group not to stop the carriage with the boy. It headed for the forest. There’s a black cat on top of the carriage looking back.
Malcolm and Barret go to tell Simon, and Simon is curious as he just told us to go on a vacation.
We go back to Tod, and Lelia healed him.

Nothing to Fear – Session 6

Recap by GM – the Two NPCs were introduced, though beyond assistance there exact roles weren’t mentioned. They were surprised when Calamar pulled out a map with the known patrol layouts, though it was assumed further security or other patrols may be possible. With aid of witchcraft, the group headed out, with Cain scouting ahead looking for patrols, and helping the main group bypass them. There were a few close calls, but Cain teleported away before any alarm could be raised. The main group also had a couple close calls. Eventually everyone made it to the temple. Rain had a vision of the future in which the Temple Stables exploding and were on fire, whether this will come to pass she isn’t even certain. Cain scouted inside, located a deserted room, and then got the rest of the group to the room. Cain scouted the floor, while Calamar located the meeting room, and discovered their plans  could be overheard. It was decided that Calamar would eavesdrop and gain the information. Calamar gained the information, the main group had a scare when Tarryn walked into the room they were hiding in. A few people noted that the Members were leaving by the front, instead of the back. Urgency to leave became clear that something was amiss – Cain teleported the group to HQ, but not before they felt the explosion at the back of the temple. It can only be surmised the Organization didn’t want to have the extra hired hands revealing this meeting.

Back at HQ, the plans were revealed, and the group is given a month to do as they wish – do other missions, or relax. The guild believes they will have further things to act upon in a month.

Each person given 4,000gp as compensation for the mission.

Children’s Crusade – Session 4

We begin with the others seeing Talios Asrain returning, covered in white dust or powder. When asked he mutters something about skeletons and chalices.

The characters are given two objectives [Princess Willow asks them to recover her brush, which she thinks she lost during a recent picnic; Master-At-Arms Duncan, requests they check out a local village, reports of robberies and such.]

Simple enough missions for the young fosterlings. They set out, the group determines to find the Brush first, with only Nickolai objecting. They reach the picnic site, and discover some clawed feet of a creature. They followed the tracks to a cave. Inside the dark barrow cave, they discovered an undead creature with the Brush, a mirror and a rabbits foot around it’s neck. [The Wights and Skeletons attacked the group. Luckily Georgina was able to “turn” the some of the undead away while the rest were destroyed]. Horace grabs magic bracers, but seems to become obsessed with them. A potion of cure light, and 50 gp for each party member is also found.

During their travel to the city of “Sandoval” the groups spots a small draconic creature. The group rushes forward towards it and it takes to wing. Nickolai shoots it in the wing, and it dives into the trees. Their search is fruitless and they eventually resume their journey to Sandoval.

At the village, the group notices that Nickolai has Pink hair and a Donkey Tail. They learn from ‘Bram’, an elderly gentlemen at the inn,  that a wondrous bard came through about a month ago, along with a strange ragtag band. They also learn that one in that group also had had pink hair. They learn that the mayor keeps insisting he’s been robbed, but nobody believes him. They also discover that the “robberies” started about a week ago when the nearby forest grove was cut down, despite objections from the Herbal lady.

The group heads out to the grove. Nickolai discovers the remnants of a fey ring and felled trees. The group notices a goat-legged humanoid peeking out from a brush. Nickolai shoots a “slow” arrow at him, and he retaliates by playing a lullaby that put four of the party down. Then the “satyr” takes off. Nickolai chases after on his horse, ignoring the small arrows flying around his head and ignoring their poisons. Eventually his horse falls into a pit, while he leaps to safety. He takes aim at the nearest fey creature, when a lizard shoots out a tongue and effectively grapples him. A squirrel cleric then starts speaking to him, but when he fails to be reasonable and a little psuedodragon appears, the small cleric places a Mark of Justice upon him, and then the fey knock Nickolai out. The rest of the group is awakened by Georgina, and they proceed after Nickolai, and find him tied up and unconscious on the ground.

The group goes to set a trap for the “bandits” and ask what has been stolen. The mayor is very polite and willing to let them set things up in his treasury. Nickolai notices an amulet with old fey markings on it and recognizes it as heart wood, something the fey would want back. Without warning he does a flying tackle on the mayor who cries out for help. A guard enters and asks what is going on as he sees the mayor being tackled and the rest looking dumbfounded. Eventually Nickolai is grappled by his comrades and he explains what happened.

EPILOGUE: The mayor requests that Nickolai be removed from his town, and willingly gives up the amulet that seems to be the source of his troubles. He understands the fey are upset and will seek to enter into negotiations to restore the peace. Nickolai has been marked as an enemy by the fey.
